Testimonials

Wendy Parker has a super power and that is a relentless focus on meeting the needs of all students. Having worked with her over a number of years and roles, I have found her to be steadfast in continually asking questions about how to even better serve students. Oftentimes that means changes to systems and structures. And, while change can be difficult, Wendy is always cognizant of meeting the learning needs of the staff as well as a desire to invest in supports that are more likely to lead to their success and that of students. I have had the privilege of observing multiple examples of her relentless focus on student results leading to improved experiences for students and the adults that serve, educate, and care for those students.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Wendy Parker for the past 14 years, beginning with her role as the Special Education Director at Prairie Lakes AEA and continuing today as she mentors our new Director of Student Services. Throughout our time working together, Wendy has consistently demonstrated exceptional knowledge and dedication to supporting students with special needs. She brings both expertise and compassion to everything she does and is always willing to help others navigate the complex world of special education.

One of our most impactful collaborations was the development of the Lakes Partnership School—a regional program created to support students with significant behavioral needs. Wendy’s leadership and vision were instrumental in making that initiative a reality, and her work continues to benefit students across our area.

I have the highest respect for Wendy’s skills, integrity, and commitment to students, families, and educators. She is an outstanding advocate and a trusted partner in the work of supporting all learners.

Wendy Parker isn’t just a Special Education leader and expert; she’s been a foundational force in my growth as a school leader. She has truly built my capacity to navigate the complexities of Special Education, both for our students and our staff.

Wendy’s expertise has been instrumental in helping me develop systems that optimize services, and she’s guided me through some incredibly challenging scenarios involving Special Education law and processes. What truly sets Wendy apart is her unwavering willingness to help. She consistently goes above and beyond, offering support whenever and wherever it’s needed. Her guidance has not only equipped me with the knowledge and skills to address diverse student needs and support staff effectively, but she has also instilled in me the confidence to make informed decisions and advocate for best practices in special education.

I can say with certainty that a huge part of my ability to step into the role of leading Special Education at Oskaloosa Schools is directly attributable to Wendy’s mentorship. She will forever be a friend and a professional mentor, and I am profoundly grateful for her guidance and support.

In my 14 years of educational leadership, I have not met a more passionate, intelligent, and effective special education leader. Her vast experience as a classroom teacher, principal, and district leader give her both the hands on clinical experience balanced with the strategic and visionary view point. This combination makes her an exceptionally effective leader that produces amazing outcomes for students. In her time at Oskaloosa we have improved classroom instruction, embraced data utilization, provided clarity on compliance, and advanced overall services for students and families.
